Location Gallery

Clare has been teaching printmaking classes all around Ireland for almost 20 years. She is passionate about printmaking, and now that she’s got a studio based in one of the most beautiful parts of Ireland, she wants to share that passion with you. Check out the range of workshops she has to offer, based in and around Connemara National Park here.

  • Pine Island

Pine Island is simply a Connemara classic. Boasting a semi-submerged walkway that gives you access to the island, this location is stunning from every angle. Easily accessed just off the main road, and with plenty of space for all participants to spread out and get the mountain and lake views Connemara is famous for, Pine Island is the inspirational spot you’ll never forget. This is certainly a boggy one, but there are plenty of rocky perches to be found and we always have our camping chairs if need be.

  • Mám Éan

The highest location for one of our workshops, Mám Éan Car Park is a fabulous jumping off point to get some seriously great views to draw and paint from. A 20 minute hike further up the ancient pilgrimage mountain path brings you to the 5th Century church giving you spectacular views of the Maumturk mountains, but it is a well eroded path and can be very unsteady underfoot. Even easier is to simply set up your drawing station just off the beaten track near the car park and enjoy the stunning scenery the hikers often don’t stop to marvel at. This approach turns a difficult seeming hike into a really accessible workshop, where enjoying the scenery and grabbing some really unique views are the order of the day.

  • Clifden Harbour

It’s important to Clare that she can provide varied locations on her workshops. The weather may sometimes be too extreme to venture up into the Connemara mountains but this location is accessible no matter what the weather throws at us. Down by Clifden harbour and boat club is an area with beautiful sea and mountain views. The bonus being that the ample parking and paved flat areas make this location accessible to wheelchair users, people using walking aids and people who just aren’t that mad about a wee hike. There are also public toilets at this location.

  • Your own bespoke workshop

Clare has been designing workshops around specific interests, needs, abilities and budgets since she started teaching almost 20 years ago. And she has no interest in stopping now. Maybe you’ve got a family group you want to entertain for a few hours or maybe you have a friend group celebrating a special occasion. Whatever the occasion Clare would love to help you make it extra special by organising a workshop just for you and yours. She can accommodate anything from 3 participants up, so get in touch and see what she can do for you. With no obligation to book, you may as well

What is a Print?

I specialise in what is called intaglio printmaking. It is a handmade process that hasn’t changed much in well over 500 years. A print is made when ink is transferred onto paper from copper, aluminium, plastic, or card using a roller press.

The finished result is a beautiful print you will treasure forever.

You can learn the inspiring handmade processes of drypoint, etching and monoprint at my workshops.
